IT was an emotional farewell for Kelantan coach Bojan Hodak after
the final whistle of yesterday's Malaysia Cup final at Shah Alam
Stadium.
Regarded as the hottest property in the M-League, Hodak will be
replaced by Thailand's former Under-23 coach Steve Darby next season.
The Croatian, who led Kelantan to a treble (Super League, FA Cup and
Malaysia Cup) last season, has received several offers from local and
foreign teams, and is expected to agree terms with a team today.
Hodak, 42, has been in discussion with T-Team for the last two weeks
and will likely join the Super League side. He had also received offers
from 32-time winners Selangor and Armed Forces but neither could meet
his demands.
A former professional in the Croatian league, Hodak could move to
Thailand or China if the deal with T-Team does not materialise.
T-Team have offered him an attractive two-year deal which is reported to be worth more than RM1 million.
If Hodak joins T-Team, Kelantan players, including captain Badhri
Radzi, Indra Putra Mahayuddin, Azizi Matt Rose, Norfarhan Mohd and
Farisham Ismail, will do the same.
Former international Amar Rohidan and Perak's S. Chanturu have signed
with the club. However, LionsXII player Safuwan Baharuddin, who was
offered US$10,000 (RM32,000) a month, has decided not to join the club
as he wants to remain in Singapore.
"We have offered Hodak an attractive package. If the deal does not
go through, we will opt for a local coach," said a T-Team official
yesterday.
T-Team, who are sponsored by the Terengganu state government, are determined to make an impression next season.
Hodak is keen to join T-Team as he wants to become only the second
coach in Malaysia to lead a club side to the Malaysia Cup. He, however,
has not declined Penang's three-year offer yet.
